Ikena Carreira
Ikena is an internationally recognised social entrepreneur and media executive with more than 15 years’ experience in creating successful social enterprises, commercial companies and leading edge TV programmes in both Africa and Europe. Press and media acknowledgement include articles in The Observer, The Telegraph, Elle Deco, Architectural Digest, Dezeen and more.
She is currently focusing on her passion for positive social impact work holding various positions in the United Nations, currently as a Communication Partnerships, and Resource Mobilisation Analyst for the United Nations Population Fund, and previously Communications for Development Specialist for UNICEF, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund in Angola.
She was the founder and CEO of StandSeven/GOLDTOWATER www.goldtowater.com a social enterprise which has created opportunities for artisans Bosnia, Kenya, Pakistan, & DRC. She led the initiative to deliver water to 23,000 on the borders of Angola and DRC.
Prior to establishing the social enterprise, Ikena worked for the family firm Azimuth, a consultancy specialising in introducing European companies to opportunities in Africa, especially Southern Africa, where Ikena has strong connection and contacts with at national levels in many African counties. Azimuth has been successful in finding and successfully developing opportunities in the transportation and banking.
A Cum Laude Honors graduate of Boston University (Political Science and Economics), with 2 MBAs from 2 top Spanish business schools (Instituto de Empresa) and Universidad Pontifica. She speaks 5 languages and loves to blow soap bubbles with her daughter.
