Laetitia Garriott

Laetitia Garriott de Cayeux is an American technology  entrepreneur and investor, born and raised in France, whose 25 years career has spanned the US, Europe and Asia. She is the Founder/CEO of Global Space Ventures, which backs pioneers in deep tech fields including AI, biotechnology and space, and is an early investor in SpaceX. She was also instrumental, as co-founder/President of Escape Dynamics, in beamed energy technology being onboarded on NASA’s roadmap. She serves on the board of directors of XPRIZE, which brought into existence the first commercial spaceship, and is now collaborating with the Space Force on designing a prize for space debris removal. She also serves on the U.S.  Department of Defense’s Defense Science Board; on NATO Maritime Unmanned Systems Innovation Advisory Board; and on the board of the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath). A graduate from Harvard Business School, Laetitia is passionate about leveraging technology towards building better futures at scale. And while a moon crater was named after her grandfather, André de Cayeux (dit “Cailleux”), a pioneer in planetary geology, Laetitia reminds us that “Moonshots are not anyone’s prerogative” and wants to encourage all to reach for their moonshot!

“In 1995, I won a prize (the GII Junior Summit Prize) that changed the course of my life. To all young women out there: I hope Space Prize empowers you to reach for your moonshot. The space economy needs you! ”
