Ascension 2022 Features Women in space

The second panel of the day featured five outstanding women in the space industry.

The Ascension 2022 online conference was hosted by SEDS-Canada (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) and a panel of influential women in the space industry. Panelists included Bethany Downer, communications officer for the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescope, Nicole Mortillaro, a senior science reporter at CBC, Hira Nadeem the director & co-founder of Zenith Canada Pathways Foundation, Regina Lee an associate professor of space engineering at York University, and Parashati Patel an astrophysicist and science communicator and STEM education researcher. The event also featured guest speaker Farah Alibay, a French-Canadian Aerospace Engineer. SEDS-Canada is dedicated to their mission to strengthen Canada’s future in space by providing post-secondary students with unique projects, research programs, and professional development opportunities in the Canadian governmental, industrial and institutional space sectors. For students wanting to get involved, SEDS chapters are also active in the US and elsewhere around the globe.
