One of the First Six Women Astronauts tells her story

Dr. Rhea Seddon was one of the first six women and the first women of Tennessee to become a space Astronaut. Since early on, she wanted to become an Astronaut, ever since Sputnik first took flight. However, as a woman she wasn’t allowed to participate in NASA and so she studied medicine at the University of Tennessee. But after she completed her surgery residency, she was called to participate in a space program as one of the first six women to do so. After training hard for 7 years, she was finally able to accomplish her dream and stayed with NASA for 20 years accomplishing various missions. Seddon was one of the first six women to fly into space and thereby broke a ceiling for women to become astronauts in America, and making her a true inspiration in the fight for gender equality.
