Priyanka Das Rajkakati

Passionnée à la fois par les sciences, l’espace et l’art, Priyanka souhaite construire une carrière qui mélange les trois. Commençant par des études de physique à St. Stephen’s College à Delhi en Inde, elle intègre le cycle polytechnicien avec l’option de double-diplôme avec l’ISAE-Supaéro. Elle termine ses études par une thèse CIFRE chez Safran, puis poursuit sa passion pour le spatial en tant que cofondatrice de la startup, The Exploration Company. En parallèle, Priyanka s’implique sur plusieurs projets d’art et d’impacts sociaux. Une de ses œuvres se trouve actuellement sur l’ISS et prochainement sera envoyée vers la lune. D’origine indienne, Priyanka Das Rajkakati a été sélectionnée dans la liste « Forbes India 30 under 30 » et le Karman Fellowship en 2021.

“Quand on parle du tourisme spatial, on entend souvent la même réaction, que le spatial reste réservé pour les scientifiques, la défense et ...les riches. Grâce à l'initiative Space Prize, je souhaite explorer d'autres nouvelles perspectives, notamment celles de notre jeune génération, afin de comprendre comment nous pouvons avancer petit à petit vers une véritable démocratisation de l'espace.”

Dr. Priyanka Das Rajkakati is an Indian-born French Aerospace engineer and artist, who explores the use of art and culture towards [sustainable] space exploration. With technical backgrounds in Physics (St. Stephen's College, Delhi), Engineering (Ecole-Polytechnique + ISAE-Supaéro) and a CIFRE Ph.D. (ISAE-Supaéro + Safran), she also has an artwork currently orbiting Earth onboard the ISS (via the "Moon Gallery" Project). A co-founder of The Exploration Company, she currently occupies the role of Art and Business Development advisor. She was featured on the Forbes India 30-under-30 list, and is a 2021 Karman Fellow.

"The general reaction towards the idea of space tourism is that it is becoming just another playground for the rich. Through the Space Prize initiative, I wish to explore other perspectives, especially of the young generation, so that we may inch towards true democratisation of space."
