Akila Saravanan named Brooke Owens Fellow

Akila Saravanan, a junior double majoring in aerospace engineering and electrical engineering and computer science.

Akila Saravanan is the recipient for the Brooks Owens Fellowship, awarded by a non-profit founded in 2016 to commemorate pilot and aerospace industry veteran Brooke Owens. Saravanan is a double majoring in aerospace engineering and electrical engineering alongside computer science. According to her professor, she has already made significant contributions in his lab. The Brooke Owens Fellowship aims to increase access and opportunities for undergraduate women and other gender minorities by connecting them with internships, mentors in the field, and other networking opportunities to help alleviate the gender imbalance that has been prevalent historically in the aerospace industry.
