OU engineers support women through new organization

Female aerospace engineers have founded a student group at OU called Woman of Aeronautics and Astronautics to prepare and inspire female students in their chosen field. There is still a large gab between females and male representation in STEM and this group hopes to give woman a way to connect with one another and encourage their growth. The OU Norman campus has funded eleven short term projects that prepare minority students and women in their STEM education. For women who are in the minority it can often feel like they are alienated, which is why it is important to have groups that can support women in their education like this. Encouraging women through organization that can create a sense of community can inspire more women to get a STEM education.
