Sandra Magnus elected to National Academy of Engineering

Dr. Sandra Magnus who is a former NASA astronaut will be inducted into the National Academy of Engineering, which is one of the highest professional distinctions for an engineer. It shows that she is someone who has reached the pinnacle of the profession. She has significantly contributed to NASA and has been to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2002 and in 2008, when she spent over four months in space. In 2012 she left NASA and became the executive director of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, which is also the world's largest technical society dedicated to aerospace. She is an outstanding example of the things women can accomplish when given the opportunity to flourish.
